52 Weeks of Food Storage

Week 16

All right. Thrive Spring Sale is live, so I am gonna go through all of the items that are on sale. On the spring sale and also the April Specials sale. I’m going to mix them so that you are getting them in order of percentage off. There are some really good April specials as well as really good spring sales, and they are all available this week only at these prices.

So starting off are the heavy hitters at 50% off strawberry slices. These are amazing. Eat them by the handful, they’re great. They are a fruit that will start to get chewy and soft after being open for a few weeks. And so you’ll either wanna repackage them in an airtight container or get the smaller cans.

They’re not as good of a value, but they are, um, you’re able to go through them a lot quicker. And so you are able to keep the freshness a lot more when you have smaller cans to open fresh each time. 50% off. Great thing. The cool thing about these smaller cans is they have a pop top. And so these are really great for on the go.

They’re great for 72 hour kits, um, things like that. So strawberry slice is 50% off sweetened cranberries, not my favorite. Um, I’ve tried them, they are very bitter and I just don’t have a need for them. But those are also 50% off. Then we move to 45% off. Blackberries are 45% off. They’re fine. They’re blackberries.

I’m not a huge Blackberry fan, but they’re exactly how you would think they are. Um, they’re, they’re fine. They’re good. I just like ’em mixed with other things. Broccoli. Oh my gosh. So this by the way, is a number 10. Can I got different sizes to show you? These are the two different sizes that they offer you.

Number 10, cans are usually what you think about when you think about long-term food storage. But Thrive has these really cool pantry cans as well. Broccoli is awesome. Love it so much. Great. Straight out of the can or also great to throw in casserole, soups, or just cook as a side. Um, like vegetable with your meal, great staple for your food storage, as well as a great healthy snack in your everyday life.

Next up is pineapple at 40% off. It’s like candy. It’s so good. You’re gonna love it. Your kids will love it. Again, it’s a fruit and it does get a little bit soft after a few weeks of being open. So consider the smaller cans. Like I have here for the strawberries or plan on getting it in an airtight container if you’re gonna buy the number 10 cans so that they will last and stay fresher longer.

Next is mozzarella cheese. Their cheese is awesome. Um, I have a video of shredded cheddar cheese that I will show here. Um, it’s pretty crazy that you can have real cheese in your food storage with a 25 year shelf life. Awesome. It even melts, um, if you reconstitute it correctly. It is amazing. Highly recommend the cheese.

Um, next are moving into our 35% off items. So chopped onions are 35% off. You know my love for these runs very deep. These are so convenient. I, I, I just don’t buy onions anymore because, why? Because now I can just open my can look. Mine are almost gone. Do you see that? Goodness. Whew. They do smell. They smell just like onions.

Um, but I’m not having to purchase them. Keep them fresh. Chop ’em, get my hand smelly. I don’t have to cry when I’m shopping them. These are amazing. I just scoop and dump. Highly, highly recommend these. Get a case of ’em, get ’em in the number 10 cans for the best value. Um, even if you have these open for quite a while in this can.

Even if they do get soft, I’ve only had it happen once. They are fine. When you’re throwing ’em in a recipe, you don’t care about the, you know that they’re a little bit softer than normal. You don’t notice because they’re either being thrown in like a thing with a lot of moisture like soup or you know, in a frying pan or something like that.

So these are awesome. I definitely recommend number 10 cans with these by a case. Um, pulled pork is another thing that is 35% off. That’s one of my favorite meats. Amazing that we have meat in a can that does not require refrigeration or being frozen, and it lasts for 25 years. So pulled pork is awesome, highly recommend it.

Their mashed potatoes are also 35% off. Um, these have a shorter shelf life. These have a shelf life of five years, so you’re gonna need to rotate through these a little bit more quickly. Also, I do not recommend making them with just water, which is what their instructions say. I recommend butter and milk and they whip up a may zine.

They are really delicious as long as you use butter and milk. If you want my, uh, recipe that I use, my specific recipe and uh, proportions and all of that, let me know. Um, but I would not make these with water. They taste like cardboard. Next is raspberries at 35% off. They’re really, really tart. They’re raspberries.

Think about taking all of the moisture out of a food. The flavor is gonna be even more. Potent strong, right? And so think of raspberries and how tart they are normally, and now suck all the moisture out and they’re gonna be very, very strong. So they’re good, they’re just strong. Classic tomato sauce is also 35% off.

It has a 10 year shelf life. Honestly, I just buy tomato sauce and cans, and I rotate my cans like from the grocery store. I use it frequently enough, and so I don’t worry about storing it long term because I always have a lot of cans of tomato sauce because I am going through it in my regular day-to-day life.

So I personally don’t store the tomato sauce. Um, but just keep in mind that it does have a 10 year shelf life, which is a little bit lower than the 25 year shelf life that we’re used to with freeze dried food. Diced chicken is nuts. That is 30% off. Um, I’m not a huge fan of chicken, a freeze dried chicken.

This is what it looks like. It’s just chopped chicken. Um, it tastes reheated or microwave to me. I will say once you add water to it and let it sit for a while to reconstitute, if you brown it in some oil, it makes it way better like we’re getting there. Then, so where I can stomach the freeze dried chicken, so it really depends on what recipe I’m cooking it with.

Um, some people don’t notice at all. I do, I’m very sensitive to like reheated or pre-cooked meats and I don’t like them. And so the chicken is the hardest one for me. Um, but if I brown it, I can definitely do it. And some recipes are better than others. I just wanted to give that as a caveat that if you are sensitive to reheated meat like I am, this may not be your favorite.

Uh, instant refried beans are also 30% off. These are fine. They’re great. This is what they look like. They look kind of funny. Um, but they whip up just great. I just, they’re too expensive for me. I’d rather store cans of refried beans, how I normally eat them and use them and just rotate those. So this, this is not a taste issue for me.

It’s just a cost issue. I’d rather buy canned refried beans and put them in my canned rotator and rotate ’em that way than spend my money here. But these are great. Just a little more pricier than the normal refried beans you buy from the store. Sausage crumbles. Our 35% off. This is one of my favorite meats as well.

Probably beets. Um, oh, whoops. I didn’t take out the oxygen disorder. No harm done, but they don’t do any good once you open it so you can throw those away. Um, kind of looks like dog food. This is what the ground beef looks like too. Um, crazy that you can eat this straight out of the can, right? No reheating, no refrigerating required.

Um, of course I would recommend reconstituting it with water and cooking it, um, for taste again, brownness, after you reconstitute it and it is just like fresh crumbled sausage. So, so good. Um, so that is 30% off. And butter powder is 30% off. I’ve used it to butter toast. I’ve used it to make mac and cheese.

Um, it does taste a little different. The texture is a little different. It’s not exactly like butter, but dang. It is nice, uh, to have, it does have a five year shelf life. So keep that in mind. Also, just something, just a little tidbit since I’m super honest and I like to cover all my bases here. You can freeze butter, um, for quite a while, and so I might not make that a priority right now in your food storage.

Maybe go buy some butter and freeze it and check that off your list for now, rather than spending your money on butter powder. But if you want to, it is great. It works well. I’m glad that I do have some in my storage. You just need to rotate it more frequently. Uh, banana slices and blueberries are also 30% off right now.

Um, both good. These are too ripe for me or not. They’re they’re too, they’re too, they’re not green. Okay. They don’t taste like they were green when they were freeze dried. And I like my bananas. With some green on ’em just a little bit, but with some green, these are too potent for me. I’m not a huge banana fan as it is.

Um, my daughter loves ’em. Some people love ’em, some people hate ’em. Like bananas are just tricky to get the right thing. So if you’re gonna buy these, I would recommend getting a pantry can and trying ’em before you buy like a bunch of number 10 cans on it. That’s just me that, um, blueberries are a fan favorite, so see how they look like black.

Well, they turn your teeth and your tongue and your lips and everything, a dark blue, purple, black color. So don’t eat these on the way to family pictures or church or anything. But they are a fabulous snack. They’re so delicious, um, really nice and fresh and crisp. But again, they are a fruit that will get soft after a few weeks of being open.

So if you’re not going to eat ’em right away, repackage them into an airtight container. These do an okay job. With the lids that these come with, but they are not airtight and so they will stay fresher if you keep ’em in an airtight container, which I’ll talk about here in a minute. With the mushrooms, I usually don’t have to do that with anything in a pantry can ’cause we go through it quickly enough.

But when we’re talking number 10 cans, just keep that in mind with possibly repackaging or getting the smaller cans so that you have more of them and you go through them quicker and they stay fresh for the whole time they’re available to eat. All right, next up are the 25% off items. Everything else from here on out is 25% off.

Um. Nope, I lied. Honey. Crystals are 30% off and the country white dough mix, this is great. Um, you dump the whole can in. It’s very simple. I’ve done it. It’s easy. Um, and it makes a great loaf of white bread. But the shelf life is three years. So think about that. If you wanna spend this much money on one loaf of bread and be using these frequently, great, go for it.

For me, I have all the bread making things. I have a wheat grinder, like I have all the things to make my own bread, and so I’m not gonna store this. But if you are not a bread maker and you want bread in your food storage as an option, this is really great. You’re just gonna need to be. You know, consciously using it every once in a while so that you are ready to rotate things before it expires three years later.

But I do recommend it. I’ve made it. It’s easy and it’s really delicious. So that is the caveat with that though, is the three year shelf life and the price, you know, it’s expensive. So a 10 pack is $94. Um, so 10 of these. So I mean, we’re talking almost 10 bucks a loaf. We’re talking $9 and 46 cents a loaf.

That’s a steep price for just making a loaf of bread on a Sunday afternoon, right? Um, so it kind of hurts to rotate it so frequently, and that’s why I’m not a fan of this, but I am a fan as far as taste and ease. Um, okay, now we are onto the 25% stuff. Sweet corn. One of my favorite things, this is what I chose to put in my 72 hour kit for my snack.

I have just a pantry can, it has a pop top so I can just open it. I don’t need a can opener. Um, I eat this by the handful, in fact. If I’m being honest, I pour it in a cup and then I kind of just go like this, um, to eat it as a snack. It’s good guys. It’s healthy. It’s a hundred percent just corn. It’s so delicious.

I freaking love it. It is so fresh. Lots of people love this stuff. So this is something that I eat like on the regular and I also have it in my food storage, diced beef. It’s a great meat. I like it. I just don’t have a lot of recipes that require diced beef and so I don’t store as much of that. Not ’cause I don’t love the flavor or anything, but.

You know, I do the diced beef and I make some gravy outta gravy packets and then put it over rice. And we really like that and it’s great, but I don’t need to store tons of cans of it either. Butternut squash, I just don’t have recipes that use butternut squash. But I did use it once to try it out and it’s fine and it tastes just like I thought it would.

Um, it’s fine. It’s great. Um, mushroom pieces amazing. I love these. Here’s a can of ’em, but this is what I do for some of my stuff that I’m not gonna go through, but I don’t want to get like. You know, soft or mushy or whatever. Um, so I like these containers because it opens. So I can do this and scoop it out, or you can pour it with mushrooms.

I’m usually just eyeballing it, and so I just pour ’em right into my pan. These are awesome. No slime, no black, no going bad. You don’t have to go buy fresh mushrooms. They’re ready to just dump in a recipe. I always have a can of these open in my pantry. Um, they’re amazingly convenient. They taste great.

There’s zero waste. I love the mushrooms, and it’s a great way to kind of like elevate your food storage cooking, if you will. You know, because it’s kind of one of those extras that just add some flavor that maybe you would’ve skipped if you needed to, and now you don’t have to skip it. So I love the mushrooms sour cream powder.

I will admit this doesn’t taste exactly like fresh sour cream. Um, and it’s pretty strong. So if my recipe calls for a cup of sour cream, I do like a half cup of the food storage sour cream just because it’s got a very strong flavor. Um, but I do love that I have this and that I can use it and I can make my hamburger stroganoff even if I don’t have fresh sour cream.

So I really love having this in my food storage. Um, one thing with this is it does go bad and when it goes bad, it will ruin your meal. Like, it, it tastes gross. So if it smells when you open it, um. Just don’t ruin your meal with it. Open a fresh can they, they used to sell ’em in number 10 cans. That’s why I have so much in this thing now.

They only sell ’em in pantry cans, and I wonder if that’s why instant white rice awesome. It tastes great. I love it. Again, the price tag, it’s like the white bread, um, but instant white rice, like any of us can buy that at the grocery store and just keep it on our shelf. And so I choose to store my rice that way.

If you wanna prolong the life longer, you can mylar bag or bucket it, um, which I also do with my rice to keep it longer. And so I prefer to do my rice that way and not spend the money on paying for cans of it. But that’s just me. If cost isn’t an issue and you just wanna get it done, this rice is phenomenal, it tastes great, and it’s.

Super fast and easy. It’s just the price tag that’s hard for me. Um, Velu, I don’t even know how to say this. I’ve made it, it’s fine. Not a fan. I like to just make my own sauces that we’re used to. So I don’t use this or the Espanol? Espanol. I don’t even know. I don’t even know what these are. Chicken gravy and beef gravy.

I just use my WinCo packets for gravy when I’m making gravy. So I don’t store these personally, but you do you. And then there’s a couple of like their ready to go meals, kind of like mountain house camping food type things. They’ve got a couple of those. I have tried the creamy beef. With Rotini Pasta. We weren’t huge fans of that.

Honestly. I have not tried the chicken teriyaki and rice. I am a huge fan of some of their others. But the beef with Rotini we weren’t a fan of and we have tried that. I am gonna order some teriyaki chicken and try that out this month. An instant meal that has been on a 50% off sale for like over a year.

Um, and it’s great. It’s great milk, but it’s. I wouldn’t waste my money on that this month because it’ll be 50% off next month too. So if you want their milk weight, um, spend your money, spend your budget on stuff that are the big hitters. So I went and order, um, you know, of the discount. So I would recommend, like, if you want things at the top of that list, like strawberry slices, broccoli, pineapple, mozzarella, cheese, mashed potatoes.

Those types of things. Um, pulled pork, chopped onions, start there because those are your deepest discounts. And so that’s going to, um, be the, you know, the biggest bang for your buck, so to speak. All right. Let me know if you have any questions. And just as a reminder, some of these items are on the spring sale.

Some of them are on the April. Uh, delivery specials. And so while they are all on sale, they’re on two different pages on the website, so I have a link to both of those individual pages. Just know that these items were pulled from two different sales pages on. The Thrive Life website. Um, be sure to use my link if you wanna be linked to me as your consultant and if you want to be my customer.

Um, if you don’t use my link, you will be randomly assigned to a consultant. So I would love it if you would use, uh, my affiliate link because you will be assigned to somebody. So if you want it to be me, go ahead and use my links. Um, and then also once you’re on the website, you can also then just search these foods if you don’t wanna shop from their sale pages.

You can also do it that way. Let me know if you have any questions. This sale goes until April 21st. However, things have been known to go out of stock during these types of sales and often they are not restocked. So if you know what you want, hop on today, get it. And be done with it, um, and then you’re sure to get what you want.

As always, if you have any questions, let me know and happy shopping!

This week’s video is longer, and is struggling to upload, so here is a link to watch it!
